Making an animation in Framer at first seemed like it was going to be really laborious and not really give good results. What I've come to realize, though, is that my critiquing thoughts are usually off. I decided to figure out how I can give my client high quality within their limited budget since they're a startup.
I started by experimenting with a couple of frames to see what it was like using component variants in Framer and then realized I was having fun. I combined that with the real app I was designing marketing for, grabbed some screenshots, and replicated the behavior of my client's app with component variants in Framer.
I found that doing animations in Framer was extremely versatile and allowed me to get pretty creative. The other really cool thing is that I could take this animation I did in a couple of other spots on the site, duplicate the component, and edit the variants rather quickly to create little different instances that contain different content or imagery.
I would say, overall, I'm pleasantly surprised and I'm going to start using Framer much more for animations that are used to communicate what a product does. It's a hell of a lot better than using After Effects, at least for me.
Plus the client was super happy.
