Client: we really are having trouble nailing down what we're about in one headline. I'm afraid we just have to do a really long headline to communicate what we do.

Me: You know, there is a design pattern that can successfully communicate what you guys are all about, keep things short and simple, and add a little whimsy on top of it.

Client: What? That's sorcery!

Me: Nah, its good design.

This was really a lesson to myself, after all these years, to keep thinking simple and to keep pushing for simplicity and whimsy.

A lot of times, I find that clients, and myself get caught up in the weeds of a project. We forget one of the most important things:

Humans just want to enjoy their experience. We want to feel the feels, and not get bogged down with your jargon bullshit. No matter if they are a CTO, CMO, or any other label in between. Enjoyment coupled with simplicity coupled with a touch of whimsy is a recipe for success.

This is a homepage hero that I designed and built in Framer. Hoping to get this launched soon and equip this client to make the food data marketplace a better one.
